A Prisoner’s Letter

Dear You,

FORGIVE ME!

Forgive me for causing you acrimony while with you.

It is never too late, but this is late.

It is late because I thought I could escape with the weight of my flaws.

For over a thousand days, I wept over the path I should have taken.

The one who drove panic and pain now lives it.

The one behind the trigger now faces it.

How can I repay you?

As a disciple of the journey of greed, I have been played.

Played by greed and might.

Dear you,

Have mercy on me!

I now am paying my dues.

I now am embracing torture.

Have mercy on me!

Forgive my heartlessness.

For all the times I stripped you off your sweat,

For all the times I caused you to grief the loss of a loved one,

For all the times I took away your innocence,

For all the times I sold lies in comfort,

Have mercy!

As I journey to never return,

I have only one wish.

Put an eye on the streets.

Save a wandering soul.

A soul trying to fit into my dirty shoes.

I know the streets will be safe then.
